Archer Knight provides market intelligence and consultancy services on the offshore energy industry.

The company was founded based on a belief that operators, service providers and supply-chain companies needed a more granular level of detail than was available elsewhere.

Now, with a combination of insight, support and analysis, Archer Knight helps its global client base deliver on their ‘last mile’. Businesses can more effectively allocate their time and resources to market entry and pursuit planning and secure the most profitable business opportunities.

Founded in Aberdeen in 2016, the company has quickly expanded into a global operation with a growing presence in Asia Pacific and the US and across the EMEA region.

A new model for market intelligence 

The aim is creating a new model for delivering market intelligence, by collaborating with clients, embracing data analytics and adapting to disruptive change.

Subscribers to Archer Knight’s Alliance Market Intelligence (AMi) service gain access to Flowline®.  Flowline® is a dedicated software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform that gives clients a real-time view of the market with granular detail on offshore wind and oil & gas projects; vessel movements, drilling rigs, market movements and more.

Consultancy expertise

Archer Knight provides high-quality discipline support to companies across the offshore energy spectrum.

This involves acting as a ‘trusted partner’ for clients, assisting in tactical operations and strategic decision making around three key areas: diving safety and services, bespoke projects, and people.

Consultancy services include diving technical authority, business development, commercial & contractual, HSEQ & risk management, strategy and project resourcing. Archer Knight offers support for operators, contractors, and supply-chain companies and others across the sector, as well as companies in the financial, educational, and public sectors.


About the Founders

David Sheret: Co-Founder and Executive Director

David is the driving force behind Archer Knight’s strategic vision, as the business grows its global footprint in energy market intelligence. He has more than 20 years’ experience in business development, market intelligence and communications in the subsea industry. Throughout his subsea career his focus has been subsea oil and gas, but with a growing emphasis on energy transition in the supply chain and the emergence of offshore wind.

Before co-founding Archer Knight, he was head of Bibby Offshore’s global business development function and has previously served on the board of Subsea UK. He has a wide experience of his industry, leading business development operations in West Africa, the Gulf of Mexico and the UK Continental Shelf.

Mike Watson: Co-Founder and Executive Director

Mike is the commercial brain behind Archer Knight, with a straightforward philosophy of ‘work hard, deliver on time’. Mike directs the company’s commercial and operational functions and has more than two decades’ experience in the energy industry. He also manages Archer Knight’s Asia Pacific business from a group perspective as the company expands its global footprint. 

Over his career, Mike has led commercial activities in Asia Pacific, West Africa and the UK Continental Shelf and has held senior commercial roles at several energy service companies, including Bibby Offshore, Wood Group Engineering, and Technip Offshore UK. Mike has a BSc in Quantity Surveying from Robert Gordon University.

David Boggs: Founder and Managing Director, EMA

David has more than 20 years’ experience in offshore oil & gas and brings his in-depth knowledge of the energy sector to provide market research, strategic planning, project execution support and business-development expertise to a global client base.

He has a primary role in all projects undertaken by Energy Maritime Associates, with extensive involvement in several FSO and FPSO developments, including as project manager. 

Before founding EMA, David was General Manager – Commercial at Tanker Pacific Offshore Terminals in Singapore, responsible for all business development and commercial activities for a fleet of leased offshore units.

He is a graduate of Harvard University (BA with honours) and has an MBA (with honours) from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was President of the Energy Finance Group.
