Senior Structural Engineer

Ramanaidu is an experienced structural engineer and trained naval architect who have over 15 years of experience in design, analysis and construction of floating steel structures. Ramanaidu is skilled in performing spectral fatigue analysis, hydrodynamic/wave load analysis, strength analysis, SCF computations, non-linear impact analysis, prescriptive scantling calculations, 2D structural drawings. His practical experience included new-construction and modification surveys in yards, condition monitoring and inspection of units-in-service, NDE of welds, coating evaluations.

Ramanaidu has long experience in life-extension and modification of units located in Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS). Consequently, he gained tremendous understanding of PSA regulations, NORSOK and DNV standards. His more recent projects in this category includes life extension of Jotun A FPSO and Norne FPSO, where he played lead roles for marine scope of the projects.

Ramanaidu is currently working with Global Maritime and located in Stavanger, Norway. Previously he worked as Class surveyor.

FPSO Life Extensions

The growth in the floating systems market is primed to accelerate over the next decade. It is predicted that there will be growth rate of 13.4% between 2021 & 2027 at which point the fpso industry will be worth over $17B globally. Within this sector the refurbishment & life extension of fpso’s will be necessary not only for the oil & gas industry but also for emerging markets within offshore power distribution, hydrogen generation & CO2 transportation & storage.
This presentation will detail the analytical techniques used for the life extension of the Jotun FPSO. Identifying the key requirements when assessing the suitability of vessels for life extension. The analysis includes hull structural design assessments, which is based on revised weight report. Stability analysis will further outline critical modifications to support safe operation of the fpso.
Based on the analysis performed Global Maritime will identify key lessons learned for the refurbishment & lift extension of fpso’s. The current trends in the floating systems market & the opportunities for fpso contractors and operators to reduce emissions through not only refurbishment & life extension of fpso’s but the conversion of new vessels for the floating systems market.
